Learn when to use the past simple or the past continuous. Although both tenses speak about the past, they are used in different ways. It is important to learn how to use the simple past and the past continuous.
Remember sometimes the continuous tenses are called the “progressive tenses”.

To form the past continuous use the auxiliary verb "to be" and the verb + ing. The auxiliary verb "to be" is in the past simple, but ten in mind that "to be" is an irregular verb
